YD Industries is committed to demonstrating growth through honest, courageous reflection on select initiatives that did not achieve intended performance outcomes.

In Q2 of 2023, YD Wellness deployed The Foot Barn, a dedicated relaxation station offering users a private, two-stall foot recovery environment featuring individually calibrated warming and cooling basins, ambient red light therapy lamps, and foot-optimized sub-woofers delivering intermittent low-frequency sonic therapy.

The Foot Barn was developed by a dedicated team of 25 engineers, designers, and marketers over three years of research and development, with the initial test launch in Columbus, Ohio. Initial consumer exposure yielded the following learning units:

Key Learning Units:

  1. The Foot Barn was only able to accommodate foot sizes 7-11.5
  2. The Foot Barn did not have a sufficiently sized beverage well
  3. Consumers demonstrated a statistically significant preference for slippers.

Readers are encouraged to explore an additional 47 learning units by consulting the full Case Study in the "Failure" share folder on the YD-Intranet.

The Foot Barn Development Cohort (25 FTEs) has since been transitioned to non-active status. YD wishes them continued success in their new roles and next chapters, and is thankful for the shared learnings. As Thornduke reminds us: "Failure sows the seeds of future growth!"

🎪 YD-Con™ 2026

Preparations are underway for New Rochelle's biggest event, YD Con 2026, scheduled for the week of October 12th. Already planned are new product demos, the Thornduke Keynote "Play the Game, Change the Game", the always-popular Ice Follies spectacular, and the Pop Shots Pavilion. And, to top it off, there will be a closing ceremony hosted by the one and only OAK RIDGE BOYS, accompanied by a troupe of exploding drones, in what promises to be a pyrotechnic celebration of YD's ongoing commitment to aerial environment enhancements.

Relive the magic. Watch the official YD-Con 2025 sizzle reel below, featuring highlights of VP of Community Engagement, Lenny Bundt's rousing presentation at the second annex stage:

🥽 CogniShield™ Blinders

Now in limited release in select markets, including Biloxi, Mississippi; Omaha, Nebraska; and Menlo Park, CA, the new CogniShield Blinders are perceptual optimization visors designed to improve the user experience in high-noise environments. This visor uses proprietary Selective Attentional Routing (SAR™) technology to algorithmically suppress incoming stimuli categorized as "low-yield" (geopolitical instability, income disparity, images of actual suffering) and amplify "high-yield" inputs (LinkedIn endorsements, fantasy sports updates, trending social content, etc.).

A recently concluded double-blind, peer-reviewed study demonstrated measurable perceptual improvement across all 14 peers reviewed. The units are currently priced at $199.99 (or with YD Buy Now Pay More Later™ (BMPML) installments), come in white and pink, and are shower-ready and machine washable.

🍽️  HV Smith Memorial New Rochelle Restaurant Roundup

This newsletter segment is in memory of the late HV Smith, an early YD Industries stalwart who profiled local dining options on his Geocities Blog, which had a loyal following on the original YD Campus (Buildings 1 and 2).

New restaurants to add to your New Rochelle eatlist:

  • House of Flaming Onions — Located on the east side of New Barn Street near the intersection of Washington, the 40-page, onion-forward menu caters to the dedicated allium enthusiast. Must tries include The SevenWayOnion, Onion Pecan Pie, and The Saving Private Onion appetizer.
  • Sammy's Clam Cups 2 Go — Clams, in cups, on the go! This is the second location for the 2022 new-restaurant standout, Sammy's Clam Cup, now oriented around a drive-through window in a converted caboose that was previously home to Joe's Java-Thru. Order the Captain's Cup for a delightful snack, or the Grand Clam Slam if you're bringing home dinner for the family.
  • Dr. Jiggles Puddin' Emporium — This surprise addition to Z Street, in the space next to Farmer Longbottoms, is a fine-dining, dessert-only establishment with a strict dress code. The pudding is serious, and seriously good. Go for Butterscotch, or try the Frangelico Delight if you're feeling especially adventurous. Note, Dr. Jiggles himself is known to circulate the room on busy evenings, so keep an eye out!
